Further Continuation of the Toronto
and Guelph Road
Rockwood, (Eramosa,) 1st April 1850.
At a meeting of the inhabitants of this village
and neighbourhood, held this day at Hill's Tavern, to consider
the propriety of co-operating with the Acton and Georgetown Road
Company, to effect a continaution to Guelph of the proposed Plank
Road from Toronto -- Mr. Squire was appointed Chairman, and Mr.
John Holgate, Secretary.
On the suggestion of H. Strange, esq., it was
resolved by the Directors of the Acton and Georgetown Road Company
-- who were present on this occasion -- that the name of the Company
be known as the Acton, Georgetown, Rockwood and Guelph Road Company;
this suggestion was acted upon, in consideration of obtaining
the co-operation of the residents of Eramosa in carrying out the
views of the aforesaid Company.
On motion of Mr. A. Brown, seconded by Mr. R.L.
Campbell, it was --
-Resolved -- That Messrs. Squire, Stringer, Evrrit,
John Stewart and Donald Black; be a committee to obtain subscriptions
for Stock in the aforesaid Company.
