Wed 14 Mar, 2012 The War of 1812
Steve Collie, a Brampton historian, takes us on an exploration of the War of 1812, the war that defined a nation for the :first time. The EHS marks two centuries since the beginning of this war which stretched to the end of 1814.

Wed 11 April 2012 The Christmas Eve Treaty and the Great Lakes Region
Historian Walter Lewis of Acton, will explore the treaty that ended the last major conflict between the United States and British North America and marked the beginning of nearly 200 years of peace. Then we'll take a tour of Upper Canada and the changes that peace brought.

Wed 12 Jan 2011 Dim The Lights. - Following up on our Movies in Georgetown meeting, Mark Rowe and Karen Hunter will explore the movie houses that have served Acton and Georgetown from the first silent movie to the closing of the Georgetown Cinema.

Wed. 9 Feb 2011 Surveying the Land - Lise Currie Ontario Land Surveyor will examine the role of Land Surveyor in preparing Esquesing Township for settlement. Lisa, a member of the EHS will explore the challenges faced by the early surveyors, their means and methods and their impact on Esquesing Township as we know it today.

Wed. Mar 9, 2011 Canada's forgotten Nation Project- Marc Boileau of the University of Guelph will speak on the architecture of Public Works Canada by focusing the history of our Customs & Post Office buildings. He is the author of Towers of Time: Ontario which examines regionally important Post Offices and Customs Houses to illustrate their architectural and historical context.

Wed 13 April 2011 Acton Town Hall Project- The wonderful glory of the public hall of the Acton Town Hall has been revealed to the public after decades of restoration work. Join Kathy and Bill Sanford for a tour of the facility and hear the story of the long road to the present restored showcase.

Wed 11 May 2011 The Plewes Family, from Wensleydale, Yorkshire, to the building of Water Mills in Southern Ontario- Gerry Hunt will share his interesting family history, the story of millers in two different places in our township and the family that contributed to the history of our communities. Those interested in seeing the Acton Flour Mill will walk over to Mill Street at 7 p.m., returning to the Church hall for the meeting.

Wed. 8 June 2011 This is my Father's World - Limehouse Presbyterian celebrates 150 years of community service and Bill Sanford will lead a tour and a talk about the progress of the congregation since 1861. This meeting will be preceded by our annual pot luck dinner. Bring a dish and break bread with the Society or come a little later.

Wed. 14 Sept. 2011 Sherlock Holmes: The First Criminal Profiler An exploration of the 60 stories that introduced the world to this literary icon, whose stories are still in print over a century after they first appeared. This exploration by Doug Wrigglesworth will demonstrate conclusively that CSI is nothing new!

Wed. 12 Oct. 2011 Bats, Balls and Sticks - Sports in Halton Hills While hockey defines our interest in sports today, it was not always so. Author John Mark Rowe will explore the waxing and waning of sport throughout Halton Hills (Esquesing). Enjoy the highlights of athletes and the sports they played from this area.

Wed. 11 Jan 2012 John Wheeler's Glen Williams Amateur photographer John Wheeler captured everyday life around Glen Williams in the early 1900's. Using his printed postcards and some of his never before seen negatives, Karen Hunter has compiled a collection that captures Edwardian life in an industrial village.
